Afternoon Prayer for My Husband

Dear Lord,

I come to you in reverence this afternoon, Father, to pray for my husband. May You bless him and keep him safe. I know that You are a loving and merciful Father, and You have promised in Your word to provide for whatever we ask of You in our prayers. I ask you, Lord, to bless my husband in all that he does and to bring your perfect peace and joy into his life. Please hear my prayer for him.

I hope and pray that today is a wonderful one for him. I pray that all of his days will be filled with joy and that he will feel Your love, which is unrivaled by any other. Life may present him with difficulties and tests, but I have faith that You will be with him through it all and will equip him. I pray that he is always able to see the bright side of things, no matter what the circumstance may be. My hope, Lord, is that no matter what he goes through in life—whether it’s something challenging, something joyous, something depressing, or something inspiring—he will never forget to express his thanks to you. May he always recognize You, no matter what phase of life he is in. I know that if You are on our side, there is nothing that can stand in our way; therefore, I ask that You will calm all of his anxieties with your love.

I pray that he will stay in excellent health at all times. By Your grace, may he always enjoy a healthy state of being on all levels—physically, emotionally, mentally, psychologically, and spiritually. Put Your love into action in his life so that everything will turn out great for him. We are grateful that You are our constant safe haven in all circumstances, Father.

Please bless him in his workplace. Give him a sound mind and good decision-making skills. Equip him with the wisdom that comes from You so that he will be able to discern what is right and wrong and what is pleasing in Your eyes. May he find fulfillment in the work that he is doing, and by doing so, may he use it as an instrument to serve Your greater purpose for his life. May he become a manifestation of Your love in his workplace, and may his work bring glory to your name.

It is my prayer and petition to You, God, that he will mature into a man of faith who is submissive to Your most holy will. I pray for him to have a strong regard and reverence for the Lord, which will enable him to fight any and all temptations that he may face in this life. It is my prayer that he will always retain Your instructions and commands in his heart so that they may guide the way he lives his life. Give him the spiritual strength he needs, God, because I know that we are not only fighting our battles with flesh and blood but also facing principalities, against sinister powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Please, Lord, guide him each and every day in whatever he does, but especially in the way he manages the family. With Your blessing, may he be able to be an effective spouse, father, son, and brother in all the roles he plays in life. Although the role he plays is not an easy one, and it may take a toll on him as a result, I am confident that the Lord’s grace will always be sufficient for him. Thank you, God, for assisting him in dealing with the challenges that come with his daily pressure and for being his source of strength when he is at his weakest.

My hope and prayer, Lord, is that he will always seek You to serve as a source of inspiration for him. I pray that in everything that he does—in his marriage, in his work, and in all of his dealings—the presence of Jesus Christ will always be with him. I pray that he will be a source of blessing and motivation for others around him. In the name of Jesus, I pray for him to have abundant life, joy, and peace throughout his entire life. Amen.

What Can I Pray For My Husband in the Afternoon?

The most wonderful thing we can do for our husband is to cover him with prayers each and every day of his life. He requires all the support that is available to him, and if you pray for him, it will be easier for him to overcome the challenging situations he may be facing. A prayer said on their behalf will positively impact their lives and will be to their advantage. We need to be able to pray for them because it will bring our husbands closer to God. Since this is a good thing, we need to be able to do this for them. How exactly do we, as Christian wives, pray for our husbands in the afternoon?

1. Pray for the Lord to give our husbands daily direction 

Every day, our husbands are faced with many decisions. They may be menial decisions or life-changing ones. His role as the leader of the family makes all the other family members dependent on his choices, for just as Christ is the head of the Church, the husband is the head of the family.

It is necessary for us to pray for the Lord’s will to be carried out in the lives of our husbands so that they may have a clear path to follow in their daily lives. He will teach us and provide instructions on the way that we should go (Psalms 32:8). If we are not steadfast in our faith, it might be easy to be persuaded or tempted to submit to the ways of the world. Therefore, by praying for them, we are helping them be firm in their faith. They will benefit from the support and prayers being said for them.

Lord, I ask you to guide my husband into your truth today and give him direction, clarity, and discernment. God, direct his steps with Your Holy Spirit, guide his decisions with Your word, and don’t let him get ahead of you. Today, I humbly request your guidance and direction as my husband journeys through life. Please lead him in Your love and Your light so that he will not give in to temptation or be overcome by darkness. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

2. Pray for our husband’s spiritual walk

When we live our lives according to the teachings of Christ, we are able to walk in a manner that is in accordance with the fulfillment of God’s commandments in our lives. It is imperative that we fill our lives with things that are pleasing to God, as this will leave no room for behaviors that are contrary to God’s plan. As a result, wives have a responsibility to pray to God, asking the Holy Spirit to direct and guide their husbands’ lives. It is important for us to grow in our faith, as we shouldn’t stay spiritual babies forever. Our prayers for our husbands’ spiritual journeys can be powerful tools in assisting them to resist giving into sin and staying strong in the face of temptation. (Galatians 5:16)

Please, Lord, open my husband’s eyes to see what he cannot see and give him the wisdom to comprehend what he cannot understand. I pray that he will keep his eyes fixed on you and submit to Your will. Please Lord, motivate and encourage him to act in a way that satisfies You. I pray that you will keep him from engaging in harmful behavior and that he will always look to You for guidance so that he may be saved. I pray that he will recognize Your voice and respond accordingly. As he goes about his day, direct him in such a way that brings him closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

3. Pray for our husbands to lead you and your family

As wives, we must submit to the authority of our husbands over us, and as the head of our family, he needs to lead it in a godly manner. Because he is also a husband, a father, a son, and a brother, this may not be an easy task, as he will also have other responsibilities. Husbands are expected to manage their family well and see that their children obey in a respectful way (One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5. For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God? 1 Timothy 3:4-5). However, there are occasions when everything feels like too much to handle.

Keeping them in your prayers on a regular basis can assist them in taking on leadership roles within the family, which will be to everyone’s benefit. No matter how strong we believe our husbands to be, we must always be prepared for the possibility that they will experience a time of weakness, and the best way for us to manage this is to continually pray for them.

Lord, I pray that my husband will remember the message of Christ and that His sacrifice will be the source of love that sustains our family. May your generous gift inspire him to live gratefully, setting a good example for our family and children. I pray that through his life, our family will develop a personal relationship with Jesus and that You will instill gratitude in our hearts. Allow him to do everything in Jesus’ name and to give thanks to You through Him so that he can also lead our family according to Your will. This is my prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.

4. Pray for our husband’s protection 

In this life, nothing is ever certain, and we have no control over what will happen to us in the future. The grace of God is always more than enough to meet our day-to-day needs, which is something we can be certain of. We are never immune to difficulties and examinations, so there may be times when we need to take refuge in the protection that God provides for us. We may have troubles, but the Lord will always deliver us (O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. Psalms 34:9).

We should always pray for our husbands’ protection, as God’s love and comfort can always reach them, even if they are away from us. We pray for protection because we have committed our lives to God, and are confident that God will be our shield and fortress.

I want to thank you, Father, for the many assurances that you give throughout the Bible that you will protect Your children. You promise to provide us with a safe haven, to be our source of strength, and to strengthen us. We are grateful that You will never leave us nor forsake us and that You will be gracious to us throughout the entirety of our lives. Protect my husband in all the ways that he goes and all the things he does, Father; keep watch over his coming and going, and steer him clear of any potentially dangerous situations. I give his life to You and acknowledge that he is Your child; I pray that You will protect him with Your most precious blood so that he will not come to any harm. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

5. Pray for our husband’s health

The state of our health and well-being can have a significant impact on our ability to carry out daily activities. Our husbands will be helped in their day-to-day activities if we pray for their good health. If they are not healthy themselves, how are they supposed to look after the rest of the family?

The Lord is gracious to those who ask from Him. He will bring health and healing and reveal the abundance and security in Him (Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. Jeremiah 33:6). He said in his word to ask, and it shall be given unto those who ask. We cannot receive something that we did not ask for. Even if we get something but decide it is not of any use to us, it will be the same as if we didn’t get anything.

You, Father, are our Healer. You understand our bodies better than we do. You are the best judge of our spirit because it comes from You. I pray that my husband’s body will remain in perfect harmony, working together and functioning as You intended—body, soul, and spirit. I pray for his good health and that everything will go well with him for the rest of his life as his soul grows. May he live a long and healthy life so that he can enjoy your goodness. This is my prayer, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

6. Pray for our husband’s work

The ability of men to provide for their family is directly correlated to the success of their careers. We should always remember to pray for their jobs, income, place of employment, and the other people they work with. It is necessary to pray for the work that your husband does, both to ensure that they will not have any difficulties in their professional lives and to ensure that their incomes will increase substantially. We should always grow where we are planted, and if we pray for our husband’s work, then they can also grow in their workplace for the greater glory of God. May our husband work as if they are serving God (23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24).

Lord, I ask that the work my husband does be blessed by You. May he work hard, and may his efforts be rewarded. I ask that You bestow wisdom and understanding upon him. I pray, God, that You will give him the fortitude to take advantage of the opportunities You provide. I pray that you continue to have favor upon him and that You bless the work he has done with his hands. This is my prayer that the name of God is glorified in everything that he does. Father, put your love on display in his workplace through my husband. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

7. Pray for our husband’s peace

We never stop looking for peace, and we do everything in our power to preserve it whenever we do achieve it, yet the world we live in can be full of challenging things that threaten to destroy our peace. However, the peace that we discover in this world is only fleeting and cannot compare to the peace that comes from the Lord.

It is essential that we pray for the peace of our husbands, the peace that originates from the Lord because the peace of the Lord is something that surpasses all understanding (And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7). People may wonder how he can keep his peace in the middle of all the trouble he is going through, but the explanation is simple: it is the peace that comes from God. It is necessary for us to assist our spouses in achieving this level of peace.

Lord, I ask that you keep my husband’s mind and heart safe as you watch over him. Through your Holy Spirit, allow his mind to be filled with the strength and peace that comes from You. May he find peace in meditating on Your word day and night, with Your assistance in putting his mind at ease. My prayer is that you will bless him with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and that even though the uncertainty of life may shake him up, he may still find joy in serving You. I pray that when he is worn out, the only place he will find rest and peace is in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

8. Pray for our husband’s future

It is necessary for us to pray for our husband’s future, even though we don’t know what the future may bring. If we have previously committed everything to the Lord, then no matter what happens—even if it is sad—we will still be joyful in our circumstances, which will aid our husbands in their support of us. There are times when we will be unable to understand the plan God has for us, but we have to put all of our faith in His will. The plan He has for us is to prosper us and not harm us; they are plans to give us hope and a future (For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  Jeremiah 29:11).

Dear Lord, please bring my husband back to Your presence when he is concerned about tomorrow. When he can’t get away from the fear of what might happen, pour out Your peace into his heart and mind. I pray that as he steps into the future, in the face of all the changes and challenges around him, You will continue to be with him to lead and guide, to help and protect, to comfort and support. You are the same as you were yesterday, today, and forever. Thank You for being with him through all of life’s ups and downs, and may he always remember Your love for him. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

 As Christians, we need to pray continually while believing that we already have the answers to our prayers. We need to submit all our outcomes to God because ultimately, it is His will that is done and not ours. However, when we pray, the Lord listens, hears, and will answer us. We need to run to Him, and as our Father, He will not turn away from us.
