Prayer For Husband And Family

When God gave you a husband and a family, he did not just enable you to love them. He also placed it in your heart to care for them, and one way for you to do that is to bring them to God in prayer. You can come to God and petition for them in this way:

Dear heavenly Father,

You are truly good and loving. Thank You for blessing me with a wonderful husband and family. Please let Your loving eyes and hand be upon them, satisfying their every need. Embrace them and let them grasp Your love. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer For Husband And Family

How do I pray for my husband and family?

While your day may be filled with duties and responsibilities, the Bible says that you have time for everything, and one of the best things that you can do in a day is pray for your husband and family. Here are some of the things you may want to pray for:

  • Good health

Having good health is important for your husband and your family. They need to be healthy, eat a well-balanced diet, and exercise regularly. 3 John 1:2 (NIV) serves as a good reminder for people to maintain good health through the author’s message to his friend. Pray for your spouse and family to be conscious of their health. You may say this prayer:

Dear God,

You gave us bodies to take care of. Please bless my spouse and family and be aware of their physical needs. Let them take care of their health and eat healthy food. Help them be consistent in living a healthy lifestyle, and let them engage only in activities that will be good for their bodies. Let them be self-controlled and disciplined as well. In Jesus’ name, I pray for this. Amen.

( Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.3 John 1:2

  • Increased faith

Your husband and family may have to face different kinds of battles each day, like self-doubt and other struggles with their faith. The enemy may even move them to doubt God or lose their trust in the Lord. The Bible teaches in the book of Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) that having faith means being sure of what we aspire to. Pray for your husband and family to think of the good things God will do for them and remember how God has been good to them already. Ask God to remind them of His miracles in the Bible. You may pray this short prayer:

Dear Lord God,

You always keep your promises. Your works are marvelous and mighty. Please open the eyes of my husband and family to Your goodness and power. Let them always remember Your great deeds. Let them not doubt You, and if they do, please erase their doubts and make them fully trust You. I pray for them in the name of Jesus. Amen.

  • Wisdom

Not all people are wise by human standards, much less by God’s standards. A person can make the same mistake again and again. Your husband and family need the true wisdom that only God can give. We read in James 1:5 (NIV) that God grants wisdom to individuals who ask for it. Pray for your spouse and family to be wise in speech, in their choices, and in their actions. You may petition this way:

Dear Lord,

You are the sole author of perfect wisdom. You have done everything perfectly. Please touch the minds of my spouse and family and give them the wisdom that You want them to have. Let them live in godly wisdom, indeed, so that they may do what is right and pleasing to You. These things I pray for, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5

  • Gratitude

God is pleased when people thank him for what he has done and given. He has blessed your husband and family. Pray for them to be constantly grateful for all that they have received and will continue to receive from God. In Psalm 9:1 (NIV), the Bible teaches us that we should be thankful to God for his great works. Pray that your spouse and family will be glad with the working of God in their lives. You can make the following request:

Dear God,

You are gracious. Thank You for always showering us with your blessings. Please bless my spouse and family with grateful hearts. Make them content with what they have and grateful for what You do. Let them remember Your faithfulness and unending love. In Jesus’ name, I pray for these things. Amen.

  • Courage

There will be times when the courage of your husband and family will be tested. A situation may make them afraid. God encouraged Joshua through his words in Joshua 1:9 (NIV) to be brave because God was with them. Ask God for your spouse and family to see that the Lord is with them and give them a brave heart. You may go to God in this way:

Dear Father God,

You want us to be bold. You give us courage. Please give my husband and family the strength and courage they need to face their problems and battles. Make them victorious. I pray for them in the name of Jesus. Amen.

  • Joy

Joy is among God’s greatest blessings to people. The Bible has several teachings on happiness. Jesus also taught about happiness, specifically the Beatitudes, and his first parable was about a joyful wedding celebration. In Ecclesiastes 3:12 (NIV), Solomon, the wisest man of his time, imparted that we should be happy and enjoy life. Pray for your spouse and family to find their joy in God. You may pray this simple prayer:

Dear God,

You are the source of real joy. You created the earth for us to enjoy, and You continuously make us happy. Please stir the hearts and minds of my husband and family to be joyful. Help them recognize and be aware of the joy that You give. I pray for them in the name of Jesus. Amen.

  • Good relationships

Relationships are one of life’s greatest treasures. Your husband and family are blessed with the relationships that God has bestowed on them. In Ephesians 4:32 (NIV), the apostle Paul taught the Christians to do good to one another. Pray that your spouse and family will treat others kindly and gently, with acceptance, care, love, and respect. You can approach God with this prayer:

Dear God,

You have started a relationship with us, though we are not perfect. You have accepted us in spite of our flaws and mistakes. Please help my husband and family do the same by accepting, loving, caring, forgiving, and respecting others. These things I pray for, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  • Peace

Peace is a gift of great value given to an individual by God. Negative thoughts such as worries and anxiety can disturb and trouble the minds of your husband and family, which may affect their happiness, work, and productivity. The Lord Jesus spoke to his disciples in John 14:27 (NIV), telling them that he would grant them his peace and commanding them not to be afraid. Ask God to calm the minds of your spouse and family and give them peace. You may speak to God this way:

Dear Father God,

You want us to be peaceful. Please enlighten my husband and family and let them receive Your peace. Remind them that You are in total control of everything that is happening. Let them remember that You are God, who is holding their hands and will calm their storm. I pray for them in the name of Jesus. Amen.

  • Protection

The evil one is at work to harm or vex your husband and family. Many men in the Bible have had experiences in which they have been in danger physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The Bible teaches in 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV) that God will protect us from Satan. Pray for your spouse and family to be protected by God. You may ask God in this way:

Dear Lord God,

You have created us and have shown Your mighty protection over the years. Please continue to protect my spouse and family from the attacks of  Satan. Protect them as You have protected Your people for centuries. I pray for these things, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Conclusion

Praying for your husband and family is an essential and wise thing to do. Pray with confidence, hopeful expectation, and patience that God will hear and answer your prayers. He may not always answer in the way you want, but He will always give the best answer beyond your desires.
