How to Pray for an Adulterous Husband

It’s painful and devastating to be married to a man you’ve loved with your life only to find out that he’s been cheating on you. Adultery has been present even from the days of Jesus on earth, which means no one is immune from such a temptation. 1 Peter 5:8 says, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. The devil is your real enemy here, not your husband. After all, it is the enemy’s goal to steal, kill, and destroy families, marriages, friendships, and a person’s future (see John 10:10). So, how do you pray for an unfaithful husband? First, you must come against the enemy – his works on your marriage and the strongholds he has placed on your husband’s mind and heart – and declare God’s Word over the situation. Then, speak life to your husband. Know that as you partner with the Holy Spirit in praying for your husband, this is not a one-time battle. You must pray diligently, persistently, and consistently for your husband even after God answers your prayer. Keep on praying for him and be led by the Holy Spirit.

Thank You, Father, for the victory in Christ Jesus and for redeeming my husband. Your consuming fire will come upon his life, and he’ll be renewed in his spirit. Let your will be done in his life. You have called him to Your Kingdom, and he is Your child. You have great plans for him, his future, and his family—this family! I declare fresh love in our hearts and restoration in our marriage in Jesus’ name. Amen.

How do you deal with a cheating husband spiritually?

To deal with a cheating husband spiritually, your approach must be spiritual as well. Don’t fight your husband and the other woman, but fight the spiritual enemy at work, using God’s Word and Christ’s authority in you. As Ephesians 6:12 says, For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. You must reach out to God in prayer and even fasting to help deliver your husband from the hands of the enemy.

Moreover, you must also not fight this battle alone. Find a godly community or people you trust and share this problem with them. You can also receive wisdom, intercession, and godly counseling as you deal with an adulterous husband. God knows that you desire your marriage to be restored and for your husband to come back to you. But know that He is also concerned for your wellbeing as His daughter. He allows us to make choices and decisions and be responsible for our daily choices. You can trust in God alone that whatever the outcome may be and whatever path your husband chooses, He alone is able to work things out for good (Romans 8:28). How do I pray for my husband to stop his adultery?

You cannot stop your husband from committing adultery. Only he alone can do that by the grace and the help of the Holy Spirit. You must come to God in prayer for your husband by speaking life unto him, declaring his identity and authority in Christ Jesus, and speaking life, restoration, and power to your marriage. You can pray in this way:

In Jesus’ name, my husband is called to greatness in Christ Jesus! He is a wonderful husband and a loving father to his children. He is a man after God’s heart, and You will use our marriage for the glory and purpose of God in Jesus’ name. Amen.

More importantly, you can also pray for your husband to encounter the Father’s love and the Lord Jesus Christ. We know that our lives will mess up big time if God is not part of them.
