Prayer of Encouragement for My Husband

A wife is a husband’s greatest cheerleader, encourager, supporter, prayer partner, and secondary source of peace, life, and love next to God. When wives support their husbands, it can be seen through their successes, earthly and spiritual achievements, and their well-being in life as a whole. When husbands go through difficulties and challenges, wives must pray for their husbands so that God’s divine help comes to them and manifests. How do you say a prayer of encouragement for your husband?

Here is a prayer of encouragement you can offer for your husband:

Heavenly Father, I lift to You my husband. I praise You and glorify You in his life. You have given him a Spirit of love, power, and sound mind. When he is down, You remind him of Your Word, which keeps his eyes fixed on Jesus Christ, the Author, and Finisher of his faith. The Holy Spirit burns from within him and helps him in his weaknesses. Thank You for giving me such a mighty man of God with a great destiny ahead of him, in Christ Jesus. Amen.

As a wife, you must be sensitive to your partner’s needs not just physically but also mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Sometimes, men don’t say when they are discouraged or on the brink of giving up; instead, they may show outward frustrations, act short-tempered, or even display laziness and a lack of motivation. So, whenever your man might be acting off, strange or different than usual, come to the Heavenly Father and pray for His divine guidance, wisdom, and insight into your husband’s situation. Then you can encourage him and give him the right words. Proverbs 16:24 says Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Moreover, another way to pray powerfully and effectively for your partner is to pray the Scriptures. The Word of God is filled with encouraging promises of the Father to His children so that we don’t give up on our faith in God. As you pray and declare His promises to your husband, the Holy Spirit will build him up and empower him to do God’s will throughout his life. For instance, Deuteronomy 31:6 says, Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

You can declare the Scripture in this manner:

In Jesus’ name, my husband is strong in the Lord! He isn’t afraid of anything, for the Lord our God goes with him. He knows that He who watches over him will never leave him nor forsake him in all seasons and phases of his life. Amen.

How do I encourage my husband?

Think about how beautiful of a privilege this is: among the billions of women in the world that God has created, you are the chosen one with the privilege and honor to empower and encourage your man for the rest of your days here on earth. Your voice, presence, and words matter to him more than any other woman present in his life because you are his chosen wife. So, when he is downcast, discouraged, or not acting like himself, think of it as a great opportunity to shine the light of Christ and be that one in a billion woman in his life.

There are many ways to encourage your husband:

1. Be a cheerleader.

You are the only woman whose words can truly impact your husband. After all, you are living under one roof for the rest of your lives. Cheer him on, support, and root for him in everything he does. This greatly encourages him to do his best in all his endeavors.

2. Speak life to his soul.

You can say words like, “You are the best person for this task,” or “You can do better things than this. There is so much potential hidden within you,” and so on. Ask the Holy Spirit for the right words to speak life to your husband.

3. Draw him to Christ and the Word of God.

The most encouraging thing to do as believers is to see Christ in all things. Be the kind of wife who constantly reminds your husband about the plans and purpose of God in his life. Draw him to the Lord by reminding him of God’s Word and promises.

4. Comfort him with a delicious meal.

Sometimes, when we are down, all we need is to fill our stomachs with a delicious meal and take a nap, just as God dealt with Elijah’s depression (see 1 Kings 19:4-14).

5. Give him a body massage to make him relax and be intimate with him.

Treating your husband like a king definitely lifts up the soul, just like when he treats you as his queen. Give him a relaxing body massage to help him fight off stress and discouragement. Get intimate with him and release the tension within him.

6. Give him helpful materials like podcasts and preachings that may speak to his situation.

Sometimes, you must initiate actions like this to help your partner renew his mind and realign his thoughts with what God is saying through a preacher or someone anointed. You can ask the Holy Spirit’s guidance regarding this matter and then play the content in the background where your husband can listen.

7. Pray for him.

The most important thing is your continual prayer for him as a wife. Your prayers are powerful and effective in uplifting a downcast soul because God listens to every couple’s prayers, keeping their marriage safe from all kinds of harm. After all, He is the author of true marriages and fellowships.

How can I be an encouragement to my husband?

As discussed earlier, it is a wife’s privilege to be an encouragement to her husband. You are blessed to be the one whom God chose to speak life, power, and His Word to your husband among the billions of women in the world.

Here are some things that greatly impact your husband and encourage him:

  1. Your words
  2. Kind gestures
  3. How you treat him
  4. Your honor and submission
  5. Your prayers and spiritual help
  6. Your physical presence and connection
  7. Your listening ear
  8. Being his strong support system
  9. Your godly character
  10. Your intimacy with him

Your life, in general, is your husband’s greatest encouragement. When you are connected with him and everything in his life, he doesn’t feel alone, even when he is discouraged. He knows that you will stay by his side no matter what. Continue to be Christlike to your partner, as this is the greatest way to encourage and uplift a downcast soul. May God bless you and your marriage, in Jesus’ name.
