Prayer for Employment for My Husband

Your husband’s employment is a blessing for him, for you, and for your children. God has given your husband an occupation that allows him to bless others as well. Your husband has to be responsible and committed to his employment. As your husband works, physical, emotional, mental, and even spiritual aspects are required from him. Your husband needs your fervent prayers for his employment in this matter.

Here is a prayer you can say for the employment of your husband:

Dear God, you are good and you know the needs of my husband’s employment. Please bless him with good health and protection. Let him be wise and intelligent in his work. Allow him to rest as needed. Please let him be given a salary increase and promotion. I pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

What should I pray for my husband’s employment?

Praying for your husband shows that you care for and love him. You can pray for your husband’s employment using these eight prayer areas:

1. Ask God for health and protection

Having good health is vital to your husband’s employment. When your husband is healthy, he is more likely to be more effective and efficient in his work.

The apostle John tells us in 3 John 1:2 (NIV) about having good health. Pray for God to bless your husband with good health, strengthening his body and protecting him from sickness and harm. In the Bible, God informs the Israelites that he will bring back their health [ Jeremiah 30:17 (NIV) ]. Ask God to protect or bring back your husband’s well-being.

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2

2. Pray for faith and self-confidence

The know-what and know-how are limited at work. Changes are happening in his workplace, and he may not know everything about his work anymore. A new skill may cause him to feel less confident in performing a certain task.

The Bible tells us [Mark 9:23 (NIV)] that everything can happen to a person who has faith, which also applies to us. Ask God for your husband to have faith and believe in himself. Pray for your husband to be confident and have the self-esteem to do his tasks.

‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Mark 9:23

3. Pray for excellence

Your husband may have yet to reach the level of excellence in his work. He may still have to do things with more effort and polish his skills.

Paul sent a message to the believers to excel in their work [ Colossians 3:23 (NIV) ]. Pray for your husband to be enabled by God to improve and excel in his job. Ask God for your husband to be well-equipped and empowered with all the necessary things to know and possess for his work.

4. Ask God for wisdom and intelligence

In his employment, your husband needs to be wise and intelligent, with good critical thinking and decision-making skills.

James 1:5 (NIV) is a great reminder that we, as Christians, should ask God to give us the wisdom we need [ James 1:5 (NIV) ]. Pray for God to bestow wisdom on your husband so that he may perform well at his work. Ask God for your husband to be intelligent enough to make good decisions that will benefit his employment and workplace.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5

5. Beseech God for a healthy work-life balance

Employees work for many hours each day. Your husband may be working hard every single day. He may sometimes even work during break times or overtime.

You can learn from the wisdom of Solomon that there is an appointed time for things to happen [ Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV) ]. Ask God for your husband to have a healthy work-life balance with enough time to work and adequate time to take breaks and rest. Beseech God for your husband to stick to a balanced schedule so he can sometimes relax and not get too stressed.

6. Implore God for your husband to be an example

Your husband has an audience in his workplace. His supervisor, or boss, and his coworkers can see the way he works, hear his speech, and are aware of his ways and dealings.

It is written [Matthew 5:16 (NIV)] that Jesus commanded his disciples to be a light to others. Pray for your husband to let his light shine. Ask God for your husband to be a good example in his workplace, having good relationships with his colleagues, speaking kindly, being  honest, loyal, submissive, and working productively. AskGod for your husband to be self-disciplined and able to demonstrate self-control.

7. Petition God for career growth and job security

A goal of many employees is to have career growth and work somewhere for as long as possible. Your husband may have the same goal, and he may have been working wisely to achieve it.

In [ Psalm 92:12 (NIV) ], the Bible teaches us that we will always grow. Pray for God to bless your husband as he diligently works for him to grow in his employment. Ask God for your husband to achieve his target and for the company to see his value and reward him with job security.

8. Request God for a salary increase and promotion

Employees also work with a longing for their salaries to be increased. With your husband working hard, he is looking for his salary to be raised, and he may desire a higher position.

We are taught by what David said that in order for us to receive our desires, we should please God first [ Psalm 37:4 (NIV) ]. Pray for your husband to please his supervisor or boss and be given the salary increase that is aligned with his work and performance. This will bring joy and satisfaction to him. Ask God for your spouse to be promoted at the right time.

How do I show support to my husband regarding his employment?

Showing support for your husband in his employment is essential for his happiness and well-being. You can show your support for him by doing these things, among others:

  • Pray for him

Tapping into the power of God is a great way to show your support for your husband, for God answers, and he will answer you.

It is said [ 1 John 5:14-15 (NIV) ] that when we pray for something that is the will of God in our lives, God will give it to us. Pray for your husband’s employment to be good. You can also pray with your husband. You may even pray over your husband.

  • Appreciate your spouse

Your spouse has been working hard and may not have received the appreciation he deserves in his place of employment. He may still be waiting for appreciation.

Written in [ John 13:34 (NIV) ] is Jesus’s words, who taught the disciples to love each other; remember that part of loving others is praising or appreciating them. Show your appreciation to your husband. Tell him how much you appreciate him and his efforts to work and support you and your family. Tell him how proud you are of him. You may surprise him with dinner or something else that he likes.

  • Encourage him

With your husband laboring hard for his job, he can get discouraged and be sad about how his hard work has turned out.

It is said [ 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV) ] that we should encourage each other. Encourage your husband and cheer him up. Let him know what an asset he is in his company. Let him know how much he can still contribute through his abilities.

  • Communicate better

An important form of support you can give to your husband is by having good communication and having meaningful conversations with him.

[ Psalm 19:14 (NIV) ] reminds us that we should please God with our words. Listen to your husband by giving him your full attention when he is talking and not allowing distractions to interfere with your communication. Talk to him about his job and how his day was at work. Listen to his dreams, goals, and ambitions. When your husband talks, he wants you to empathize with him. He will appreciate it when you feel for him and understand him.

  • Respect him

Your husband needs respect from you. Respect his choices and respect his opinions,  even if they differ from yours. Respect his wishes and interests.

The author instructs that a wife should respect her husband [ Ephesians 5:33 (NIV) ]. Acknowledge and respect his role in your marital relationship and in your family. Respect your husband’s decisions, actions, and ideas.

  • Lighten the load of your partner

Your husband may get weary at work. There is the possibility that he may get burdened by the responsibilities he has related to his employment.

As Paul commanded the believers to help others with their loads, we should do the same [ Galatians 6:2 (NIV) ]. You can lighten his load by doing some of his at-home tasks. You may offer to help or volunteer to do something for him, like wash his car or clean the garage.

  • Let your husband relax and rest by himself

Your husband has worked for hours at his workplace, so he needs to take a good rest when he gets home. He needs to have some time alone so he can regain his strength.

The Bible teaches us through Jesus to go to him when we need to rest, and he will give us our needful rest [ Matthew 11:28 (NIV) ]. Like Jesus said, give your husband some time to rest. Prepare his favorite spot to rest and relax. Let him be undisturbed for a time, so he can come back refreshed and re-energized.

Conclusion

Your husband’s employment is important to him. He works not just for himself but also for you and your children. When you pray for your husband, God is pleased. Therefore, pray with all your heart for God to bless the employment of your husband because God will listen and answer you.
