Prayer For My Husband Not To Divorce Me

When God united Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden as husband and wife, divorce was not part of His plan. Our Lord Jesus Christ emphasized that no man should separate what the Lord has united ( Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Mark 10:9). Although your current situation may seem dire, remember that God wants you to fight for your marriage. Ask for His help through this prayer:

Abba Father, You are my Refuge and strength, my ever-present help in times of need. Strengthen my marriage and restore everything the enemy has stolen. I renounce bitterness and unforgiveness in our marriage, in Jesus’ name! Let Your love overflow in us, healing our hearts, Father. Amen. 

How can I pray for my Husband not to Divorce me?

If your husband wants a divorce, don’t argue or speak hurtfully to him. Surrender your pain to the Lord and let Him fight your battles (The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exod. 14:14). He can break the callousness of your husband’s heart and replace it with a heart of flesh. Once he encounters the love of God, he will also realize how precious and wonderful you are. Here are five prayers that can help you:

1. Pray for restoration

Harsh words, unresolved conflicts, and a lack of intimacy can steal the joy, love, and peace from a marriage. The good news is that God can bring back everything the enemy has stolen from us (Ps. 71:20-21). He can heal wounded hearts and let His love overflow. Declare restoration in your marriage through this prayer:

Dear Lord, I pray for the restoration of my marriage. Bring back the love, care, and compassion that my husband and I used to have for each other. Let your everlasting love flow in our hearts like a river, healing us from all the pain, hatred, and bitterness we harbor. I put my trust in You alone, Lord. 

I renounce the enemy’s evil plans against my marriage, in Jesus’ name! I rebuke pride, selfishness, and unfaithfulness. Strengthen our marriage so that we can bring glory to You, Lord. Although we are facing many challenges, You remain faithful in our lives. I put my trust in You alone, Almighty God. Amen. 

2. Pray for forgiveness

Forgiveness is necessary for a marriage to remain strong and healthy. As children of God, the Lord instructs us to forgive others as He has forgiven us (Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Eph. 4:32). Once you and your husband decide to forgive each other, reconciliation follows. However, pride can prevent us from forgiving even the people we love most in the world. Ask for God’s help to grant you and your spouse forgiving hearts:

Almighty God, grant my husband and I hearts like Yours that are willing to forgive and overlook each other’s trespasses. Help us let go of the bitterness and hatred we hold in our hearts. Instead of speaking hurtful words, let our words be full of wisdom and love. Whatever prevents us from forgiving each other, I renounce it, in Jesus’ name!

3. Pray for wisdom

Problems in our marriage can overwhelm us with negative emotions, leading to imprudent decisions. If you don’t know what to do, the best thing to do is ask God for wisdom ( If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. Jm. 1:5). He will direct your steps and lead you on the right path, despite the pain you are going through. Ask God for wisdom through this prayer:

Almighty God, grant me wisdom during these trying times. Show me what I should do and lead me to the path I must take. Guide me in every decision that I have to make. Lord, don’t let my choices be dependent on my emotions, but instead, remind me of Your Word and Your promises. 

I silence all the voices of lies, deception, and confusion, in Jesus’ name! I renounce the unbelief and fear in my heart. Lord, grant wisdom to my husband as well. Provide clarity to his mind so that he may decide according to Your will. For this, I pray. Amen.

4. Pray for strength

You can rest in God’s presence if you’ve lost strength as a result of your troubled marriage. He will restore your strength (Is. 40:31) and renew your hope in Him. Moreover, ask God to grant strength to your husband during the trials in your marriage. Below is a way to pray for strength:

Abba Father, grant me strength during these troubling times in my marriage. Don’t let the enemy steal the hope I have in You. Instead of focusing on my pain, teach me to fix my eyes on You. Provide me with a peaceful heart and a sound mind so that I can do Your will and obey Your instructions. 

I also pray for my husband, Father. Let his hope rest in You alone. If he is tired of our marriage, I ask for Your presence to cover him and give him the rest he needs. I renounce the heaviness and weariness in his soul, in Jesus’ name! I claim victory in our marriage, Father. All the glory belongs to You alone. Amen.

5. Pray for a transformation of his heart 

Is your husband’s heart callous? Don’t worry, as God can break the hardness of one’s heart. Remember, Paul had a calloused heart, but his encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ turned him from a notorious persecutor to one of the greatest servants of God (Acts 9:1-19). Ask God to transform your husband’s heart with this prayer below:

Almighty God, break the callousness in my husband’s heart. Set him free from anger, pride, unfaithfulness, and unbelief, in Jesus’ name! Let Your love fill his heart, replacing his heart of stone with one of flesh. May he have a supernatural encounter with You, Lord, just as Paul of Tarsus encountered You. Change my husband from the inside out, Lord. For this, I pray. Amen.
