Prayer for my Husband to Forgive Me

Hurting a loved one unintentionally or due to a lack of self-control causes lingering feelings of guilt and condemnation, even as believers. It is proof that we are humans in desperate need of the Holy Spirit’s empowerment every day to truly shine the light of the Father and bring Him glory in Christ Jesus. Considering that you are here thinking about the one you so loved, but left wounded or hurt for some reason, know that God knows your heart, and there’s no pain that is too deep for God to heal.

As a wife who has caused pain or wounded her husband, this is a prayer for my husband to forgive me:

Heavenly Father, I lift my husband’s mind and heart to You. You know how deeply sorry I am for the pain I caused him. Only you know the pain I’ve caused in his heart. I pray that he will forgive me for everything I have done and give me another chance to make things right with him. He is a loving person, full of mercy and compassion. He loves me as the Lord loves him. I bless him in every way. Protect our marriage from the works of the enemy, and allow me to declare the victory of Christ in our home, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

It might make you anxious to wonder if your husband will forgive you or not for the things you’ve done wrong. It can make you regret your actions as you meditate on the situation, wishing you could turn back time and undo things. However, this won’t do you any good, for we know that time cannot be turned back, and once we have released words and actions out of anger, the damage we’ve caused cannot be undone.

It would help if you simply accepted the reality of your weaknesses and imperfections and your grave need for the Savior, Jesus Christ. You can only hope and believe that God will touch your husband’s heart and that all wounds will heal in time. You can take this experience as an opportunity for growth and character development and become even more Christlike.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

How can I forgive myself after hurting my husband?

Hurting your husband out of heightened emotions and then realizing the damage you’ve caused can leave you with feelings of regret, guilt, and condemnation. However, dwelling on past mistakes and beating yourself up won’t bring a solution and will never produce the fruit of God in your marriage. You must let it go and let God deal with the rest of the mess. After all, Romans 8:28 says, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

After hurting your husband, the only way to forgive yourself and move forward is to truly realize that God has already forgiven you for that mistake. He knows that you are repentant and sorrowful for what you’ve done. If God has forgiven you, then why should you not forgive yourself?

When we disagree with God, we become prideful, even if it seems logical to punish ourselves by not forgiving ourselves. That’s not how God sees you when you’ve made a mistake. He knows that humans are weak and prone to terrible mistakes. That is why He gave His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, as the solution to all our failings. He also gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us into His truths and help us in our weaknesses.

It is time to let go and forgive yourself because God has forgiven you, and when memories return to make you feel guilty and condemned, simply declare:

God has forgiven me. I am His child, and I am confident that He can work things out for my best interest, in Jesus’ name.

God has forgiven me. I am His child, and I am confident that He can work things out for my best interest, in Jesus’ name.

Can prayers cause my husband to forgive me?

When we deeply hurt someone we love, we worry about how they will ever forgive us. We are blessed as believers because we don’t have to face our struggles alone. We have the Holy Spirit, who comforts us, and the Word of God to remind us of God’s promises and plans, even in our failings. Praying to God gives us the essential connection to His peace, presence, and perspective.

When you pray to God for your husband to forgive you, there is a divine happening in the Holy Spirit’s realm that impacts and affects your husband. Every time you kneel and pray to God for his heart, mind, and soul, there’s a sonic wave in the spiritual realm as God’s hand and holy angels begin to move according to your prayer.

Prayers are powerful, as you are uttering the very Words of God. When you speak and declare God’s love, mercy, and compassion to your husband, it manifests in his life, even if you may not see it immediately. Proverbs 18:21 says Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. As you fervently pray for your husband and speak life to his soul, you shall enjoy the fruit of it one day.
