Prayer for Husband to Keep His Job

One of the most important things to your husband is his job. He may have a job that God has anointed him to have. Your husband may have been blessed with a job that he has prayed for. Your husband may love working and feel passionate about his job. The job of your husband is precious to him. At most, keeping a job that he likes will make him content, satisfied, and grateful. You can help your husband keep his job by praying for him.

Here is a short prayer you may follow to pray for your husband to keep his job:

Dear God,

Your work is marvelous. Thank you for blessing my husband with a job that gives us what we need. I pray that you will bless my husband as he does his work. Let him love his job deeply. Give him a good mind and good hands as he works. I pray all these things in the name of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.

How do I know if God wants my husband to change jobs?

God is a God of clarity and purpose. He will guide you toward what you need to know and do with regard to your husband’s job. There are signs that can show you if God wants your husband to change jobs. Here are eight signals that will indicate that God has another job in store for your husband:

1. Your husband is no longer happy

In Ecclesiastes 5:18 (NLT), Solomon beautifully wrote his careful observation about the happiness of people, stating clearly that we should be happy with our job. Your husband’s happiness with his job is of high importance. However, when he is no longer joyful when working at his job, not motivated or inspired to do his work, then it is a clear sign that God wants your husband to change jobs and find a better and more satisfying one.

2. There is no peace in the present job

The Bible tells us [ Colossians 3:15 (NIV) ] that peace should govern us. Peace is significant in work as well. Having peace makes a worker feel at ease, focused, and productive. When your husband experiences constant unrest, trouble, vexation, stress, and persistent negative thoughts at work, particularly those that threaten his emotional and mental wellness, these are signals that God wants your husband to say goodbye to his job and find something new.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15

3. His job is not aligned with God’s will

It is said in the book of Jeremiah [ Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) ] that God has plans for us, and that includes the kinds of jobs we should be getting involved with. An ideal job that God approves of is one that brings joy, satisfaction, stability, wellness, and good productivity. When the job of your husband leads him to go astray, become unwell emotionally and mentally, or when performing his job makes him do ungodly things that produce unrighteousness, then it is God’s will for your husband to resign from that job and find another career that pleases God.

4. Your family is neglected

God has given your husband a job for him to do, not just to provide for your family but also to take care of your family. The book of Timothy  [ 1 Timothy 5:8 (NIV) ] powerfully responds to the needs of a worker in providing for his or her family. Providing for the family does not just mean financial provision; it also means providing love, care, time, and presence for the family. There is a time for doing a job, and there should be enough time to spend with a spouse and children. When more time is given to do his work, and his time for you and your family is lessened or neglected, it is a sure sign that God wants to redirect your husband towards a job suitable for him and your family. Remember, God wants the family to be close and regularly joined together.

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8

5. Health is put in danger

God blesses a job that promotes good health. God wants your husband to have stable emotional and mental health and wellness while at work. It is written in Matthew 6:25 (NIV) about not having to worry about physiological needs. Effectiveness at work calls for good health. When his work is inclined towards harming his health, or when his work activities lead him to become sick or in danger, then you know that God is not supportive of that job. He certainly does not approve of it, and he would want your husband to let go of that job and find one that allows him to work safely and healthily.

6. There is little opportunity to serve

God gives a job to a person for a purpose. Certainly, he appoints a certain job for your husband with a specific purpose for him to be of service to others. The greatest servant of all, Jesus himself, said that he came to serve [ Matthew 20:28 (NIV)], giving us the ultimate example to follow, for we are little Christs in this world. When your husband’s job does not give him the opportunity to serve others, it is likely that God does not want your husband to do that job any longer. He wants a person to be of good service to others, just like Jesus.

7. There is a better job opportunity

Your husband may have been praying for a better job for a long time. His desire is to have a more stable, beneficial, satisfying, and purposeful job where he will love and excel at work. In the book of Isaiah [ Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)], the voice of God rings out that he will do something brand new; that “brand new” could possibly be a new job for your husband. When God answers our prayers and opens the door to a better job for your husband, it’s as though God is telling him it’s time to leave his current job and take the new one.

8. There is no career advancement

Most people want growth, especially when they have worked in a company for a long time. Your husband may have been waiting for a promotion, but despite his excellent work, loyalty, and service, he has not been promoted or given a real chance to grow. Thus, this can be seen as God moving your husband to look for another job that will give him all that he desires and needs. David, the man after God’s own heart, said in the book of Psalms [ Psalm 20:4 (NIV) ] that God may give your husband what he wants to make him successful.

May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. Psalm 20:4
