Prayer for My Working Husband

As God has blessed your marriage and bestowed your husband with a job, so will he bless your husband as he works and performs his tasks.

Working is a privilege that gives benefits and makes a worker feel fulfilled and satisfied. Working requires responsibility and reliability. Your husband needs your earnest prayers in his work. God listens to your prayers for your husband who is working, and you can pray for him any time.

How do I pray for my husband at work?

Praying for your husband at work is not hard to do. The Bible teaches people how and what to pray for. You can pray for your husband by adapting these seven example prayer points:

1. Pray for good health and protection

A workplace should be a safe place for him to work. However, sometimes accidents happen. Ask God to keep your husband safe and protected, as God will do [ Psalm 121:8 (NIV)].

the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:8

John prayed for his friend to be healthy [ 3 John 1:2 (NIV)]. Having good health is essential as your husband does his work. Pray for God to bless him with better health and strength so that he will be fit enough to do his job.

2. Ask God for outstanding work

Christians are expected to do excellent work. Your husband has an audience that looks at and checks the quality of his work.

Paul commanded Christians to labor for the Lord [Colossians 3:23 (NIV)]. Ask God to bless your husband with great hands, talents, and capabilities. Pray for your husband to maximize his abilities and produce high-quality work. Request from God that your husband can meet work output standards and even surpass them.

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2

3. Beseech God for discipline

Your husband may get so focused on work that he forgets to rest. Pray for him to be disciplined with his time at work and get some rest when needed.

The Bible speaks about believers’ spirit of self-control [2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)]. Request from God that your husband will be self-controlled in the use of his time. Ask God for your husband to have a balanced lifestyle.

4. Pray for your husband to be an example

As a working Christian husband, he needs to set an example for his workmates. He needs to be good in character, attitude, behavior, and the way he works.

Jesus mentioned that believers are light and should make their light shine [Matthew 5:14,16 (NIV)]. Pray that your husband will be a light at his workplace. Ask God that your husband will have a good work ethic and relate well to his coworkers with honesty, gentleness, kindness, respect, patience, and understanding, among other qualities. Request God that your husband abides by the rules of his company.

5. Ask God for wisdom

In every job, it is necessary to have wisdom. Having wisdom will usher your husband into effectiveness and productivity at work.

Pray for God to increase your husband’s wisdom so that he will be discerning and do what is best in every task at hand, for the Bible says that God bestows wisdom [Proverbs 2:6 (NIV)]. Ask God for your husband to be wise enough to say “no” to temptations or bad provocations of the evil one.

6. Request God for peace

Working requires a sound mind free from troubling thoughts, worries, and fears. Your husband may have mental battles at times.

Jesus declared that He will give peace [John 14:27 (NIV)]. Pray for God to erase the worries and other negative thoughts that your husband has and will have. Ask God to replace them with peace.

7. Pray for success

Certainly, one of your husband’s goals is to work well and be successful at work. He wants to accomplish great things.

Pray that he will entrust his work to God, and the Bible says that he will have success [Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)]. With committing to God comes your husband’s commitment to do his best. Many people have prayed for job success, and God gave them success. Ask God for a salary increase and a promotion as well.

How can I show support for my working husband?

God has blessed you to show your love to your working husband. You may add doing these things to the supportive ways that you already have tried. Here are effective ways you can show your support for your husband:

  • Pray together

One of the strongest ways to give support to your husband is to be with him in prayer, asking God for support. Praying together means calling on God for His grace and leading.

Jesus shared that praying together means having God in your midst [Matthew 18:19-20 (NIV)]. God’s presence will prepare him for productive and meaningful work. Praying connects him to God, Who equips your husband to work. Pray for his goals and dreams as well as his challenges at work. Invite your husband to pray with you. Move him to pray regularly with you.

  • Praise him

Your husband can get tired and weary from working. He will be happy not to hear complaints but your words of appreciation, praise, and thanks.

Peter encouraged Christians to love [1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)] and part of loving your husband is praising him. Praise him for his efforts. Praise him for his good works. Express your appreciation for his diligence and hard work. He will be glad to hear those praises and appreciations and will be energized and inspired, bringing gladness of heart as he works every day.

  • Encourage

Discouragements and disappointments may come at work. Your husband may be discouraged with work-related matters. He may be disappointed in others for their work or for what they have done.

Encourage your husband to overcome discouragements and disappointments as they may easily occur at work. Encourage him so that he may be able to work again with courage and boldness.

  • Communicate well

You can support your husband by communicating with him well. Listen to him intently, undisturbed by distractions and communication barriers.

You may write short notes of positivity and inspiration for him. Make your words pleasing to God [Psalm 19:14 (NIV)], and then it will be pleasing to your husband. Let your words to him be gentle and kind. Tell him that he can call you anytime and that your communication is of top priority. When your husband is happy with your communication, he will be able to focus on doing his job well.

  • Read the Bible with him

Before going to work, it is always good and beneficial to read the Bible together. Reading the Bible will remind your husband of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and grace.

The scriptures say that you should read and meditate on the word of God [Joshua 1:8 (NIV)]. Read verses that would remind your husband that God will give him the ability and the strength to do his job well. Read scriptures that will enable him to trust in God more and to rely on him. Read the word of God to inspire and increase the faith of your spouse as he does his work.

  • Worship together

Worship plays an important role in the success of your husband. Success and victories come when people worship God. Worship fills your heart with joy.

The psalmist invites people to sing with joyful praise to God [Psalm 95:1 (NIV)]. After work, before going to bed, it is ideal to worship together with your husband. Let God hear your praises. Sing praises as one. Let God be pleased by your worship.

  • Thank God together

An essential part of having and maintaining a good job is to thank God. Thanking God makes a worker glad and blessed.

Ask your husband about the things he is grateful for in his job. Give him a notebook and pen to make a list of the things that he is thankful for. Thank God together for all He has given and done in your husband’s work, as it is written in Psalm 77:11-12 (NIV).

Prayer for your working husband

Your prayers are a great help for your working husband. Your prayer brings him closer to God, and as he depends on the Lord, he becomes more efficient and fruitful at work. You may pray this way:

Our Lord God, You are the giver of great and awesome gifts, and You have given my husband work that he loves and is a blessing; not only for him but for me and our entire family. Father, thank You that You have made him able and talented to do his job. Let him live a healthy lifestyle and be disciplined about using his time, working on time, and having enough time to rest. Let him do his work excellently. Help him live a balanced life, working smart and resting when it is the right time to take a break. Continue to give him wisdom and intelligence as he works. Let him be a good example to his coworkers. Bless him with peace within himself and with his workmates. Let him praise You and be grateful for his work. May his work be pleasing to You. May he be satisfied with his work and joyfully praise You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Conclusion

Your husband’s progress and success are not merely brought about by his ability but also by your support and prayers for him. God is pleased when you pray, and He always responds. So, fervently and persistently pray for your husband to continually depend on God as he works, and you will see God move with favor and grace.
