Prayers For Your Husband To Be Humble

A proud heart is detestable in God’s sight. Unless we learn to humble ourselves, we cannot receive God’s grace and favor in our lives ( But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Jm. 4:6). Denying God’s sovereignty means choosing to depend on your own strength and efforts to thrive and survive. However, once we surrender our lives to the Lord, He will direct our paths and grant us His favor. Here is a prayer for your husband to be humble:

Almighty God, grant my husband a humble heart. Reveal to Him Your greatness and sovereignty. Touch his heart so that he may realize that without You, we are nothing. I renounce pride, arrogance, and self-righteousness in his heart, in Jesus’ Name! Fill him with Your love, Father. Amen.

How do I pray for my husband to be humble?

Although you want your husband to be humble, you cannot transform his heart. Only the Lord can change one’s heart (A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Ez. 36:26). The best thing you can do for your spouse is to pray for him. As you entrust him to the Lord, you can expect changes to occur in his heart. Below are the prayers you can declare for your husband:

Prayer to have a humble heart

With a humble heart, it is easier to hear the voice of God and obey His Word. However, humility happens when we surrender our life to God. Instead of relying on ourselves, we must recognize His sovereignty and depend on Him alone (Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Jer. 32:17). No matter how proud your husband may look, the Lord can grant him a humble heart. Ask God to give your spouse a humble heart through this prayer:

Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Jer. 32:17

Prayer for Husband to be Humble

Dear Lord, help my husband surrender his life to You. May he acknowledge that You are sovereign above all. Touch his heart so that he may accept Your plans in his life. Whatever prevents my husband from surrendering his life to You, I renounce it, in Jesus’ Name! May You cover him with Your presence and humble his heart, Lord. Amen.

Prayer for a submissive heart

In Romans 13:1, the Lord instructs us to submit to authority since all authorities come from Him. When we submit to the authorities, we also submit to the Lord. This is not only an act of obedience but one of humility. Is your husband having trouble submitting to the Lord, his boss, or other authorities? Ask the Lord to make his heart humble through this prayer:

Father, give my husband a humble heart that is willing to submit to You and the governing authorities. Reveal to him the value of submission. Destroy any thought that makes him think that he is above the authorities. Fill his mind with Your Word of truth. I renounce arrogance and pride in his heart, in Jesus’ Name! I praise You for moving within my husband’s life, Lord. Amen.

I praise You for moving within my husband’s life, Lord. Amen.

Prayer for Husband to be Humble

Prayer for an obedient heart

Obeying God not only shows that we trust him, but it also acknowledges His sovereignty in our lives. The more we follow the Lord, the more we are humbled in His presence. Remember that Jesus humbled Himself and obeyed even to the point of death (Phil. 2:8). Declare obedience to your husband by uttering this prayer:

Almighty God, an obedient heart pleases You. Humble my husband and teach him to obey Your Word. May he seek to please You rather than to please other men. Reveal to him the humility of Your Son, such that even though He is God, He chose to humble Himself. Give my husband a desire to serve rather than be served. For this, I pray. Amen.

Prayer against pride

Pride is a dangerous sin that led to the downfall of Lucifer (Is. 14:12-15). It is a condition where we choose to follow our will rather than the will of God. Instead of depending on Him, we trust ourselves even more. Sometimes we must go through painful experiences to realize that we are only human. If your husband has a proud heart, never give up on him. Help him by uttering this prayer:

Abba Father, You are above all else. You are the Creator of this world. Without You, we are nothing. Help my husband see Your sovereignty, Lord. Instead of relying on himself, teach him to depend only on You. Show his weakness so that You can be his strength. Help him to surrender his life to You by acknowledging that You are the only One to whom he can turn. All the glory and honor belong only to You, Father. Amen.

Prayer against rebellion

God is displeased by rebellion (1 Sam. 15:23). Because of Israel’s rebellion against God, they suffered from wars and famine. Whenever we go against God’s will, we are rebelling against him, but if we humble down to God and ask for his forgiveness, He will heal our land (2 Chr. 7:14). Is your husband rebelling against God? Here is a prayer for him:

Heavenly Father, I pray for my husband. Forgive him for his rebelliousness against You. Touch his heart and humble him so that he will submit to You alone, Lord. Open his eyes so that he may see that You are our God, worthy of all praise and honor. I renounce the callousness, pride, and stubbornness in his heart, in the mighty Name of Jesus! Let a humble spirit come upon him. Amen.

Prayer against self-righteousness

Self-righteousness is a state where people depend on good deeds to gain salvation. Many refuse to accept Jesus because they believe their righteousness can save them. However, we must remember that no good deeds can save a fallen man. Only by the grace of God through faith can we receive salvation (Eph. 2:8-9). Does your husband’s self-righteousness prevent him from accepting Jesus? Utter this prayer for him:

Dear God, break the pride and self-righteousness in my husband’s heart. Reveal to him that Your grace saved us from eternal damnation. If not for the finished work of Jesus Christ, salvation would be impossible for us. Touch his heart and fill him with Your love, Lord. Thank You for Your saving grace, Father. Amen.

Can God make my husband humble?

There are accounts in the Bible where the Lord humbled proud men, and their hearts were changed after they encountered him. No matter how arrogant your husband is, God can find a way to change his heart (Matt. 23:12). If you are wondering if God can change your husband, here are some verses that can encourage you:

God humbled Paul on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1-28)

Paul of Tarsus was a Pharisee who held great anger toward the followers of Christ. He thought he was doing the right thing and persecuted and imprisoned some of them. However, along the Damascus Road, Jesus showed Himself to Paul. For days, Paul lost his sight and had a change of heart. He was one of the great persecutors but then became a great servant.

Your husband may have never encountered Jesus in his life, but through your prayer, the same thing that happened to Paul can happen to your spouse. Your husband may have a high position and a lot of possessions, but the Lord can transform his heart, granting him a humble heart like Paul.

Moses became the meekest man on the face of the earth (Num. 12:3)

Although Moses was an Israelite, he became a prince of Egypt. However, he had to flee and hide after he killed an Egyptian. Once a prince, Moses became the caretaker of his father-in-law’s sheep. It was a humbling experience for Moses, but in this humbling moment, God entrusted him to deliver the Israelites from Egypt. He also became the meekest man on earth.

God will let painful experiences happen so that we can humble ourselves before Him. Instead of getting angry, we must remember that our Father disciplines us because He loves us (Heb. 12:6). If your husband has painful experiences, it can be an opportunity for him to know God more.

Conclusion

It takes a humble heart to submit and obey the Lord. Without humility, we cannot experience His grace and favor. The good news is that God can change the hearts of the proud. Your husband may need a humble heart, so don’t hesitate to ask the Lord to transform your husband through prayer.
