The only way to be protected from falling in love with the wrong person is by praying to God for guidance and wisdom in one’s married life.

Is it biblical to pray for your future spouse?

While there isn’t a Scripture that shows us a woman praying for a future spouse, it isn’t unbiblical to pray for one. Desiring to be married to a godly spouse in the future is no different from praying to God for provisions or other desires of our hearts, such as the desire to conceive, to be a channel of blessing to others, to be used mightily in the Kingdom of God, and so on. As Philippians 4:6 says, Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Requesting for a future spouse isn’t unbiblical at all.

God already knows your desire for a future godly spouse. Keep praying for your future marriage and the man of God you desire. Don’t hesitate to come to God and ask for such blessings in a prayer. Your Heavenly Father knows that you want to glorify Him through your marriage, and it is normal for a faith-filled woman of God to desire to be married to someone who holds the same values, mindsets, and beliefs.

 

As you continuously keep your eyes on Jesus, He will bring the right man to you in His perfect time. Even if you desire someone in your heart, you may also surrender him to the Lord, bless him and declare God’s Word on his life. We know that nothing is too hard for the Lord. Seek God first, and all other things will be added through your prayer and desire. Let Jesus continuously be the number one desire in your life and the right man who will awaken your heart will appear, so that you may worship God together in the future.
