In earlier days, God anointed men like Moses, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, and David not only to live righteously but also to succeed. He called them to show his glory, faithfulness, and love to His people. God still calls individuals to succeed in this present age, including your husband. You can help your husband succeed by praying for him.

You may seek out God through prayer in this way:

Dear heavenly Father,

You are the God of victory and success. Please shower your blessings upon my husband and make him successful. Let him grow in character and in countless ways so that he may be successful, just as you have called him to be. I pray for all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

7 Ways to pray for my husband to succeed

Praying for your husband is important as he climbs the ladder to success thanks to the grace and guidance of God. You can pray in several ways. Here are seven prayers that you may say for your husband to succeed.

1. Pray to God for good health

David, Joseph, Daniel, and other men in the Bible were physically healthy,  which helped them claim success in the trials they faced. In the same way, your husband needs to be healthy too! According to (Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2 (NIV), John wished for his friend to be healthy. Pray for your spouse to eat nutritious food and drink healthy beverages. Ask God for your husband to take care of his body through exercise and by engaging in beneficial physical activities. You may pray in this way:

Dear God,

You give us strength. You have given us everything we need to have a healthy body. Please bless my husband with good health. Make him consume only foods that are good for his body. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

2. Pray for wisdom

Attaining success requires wisdom. In his time, King Solomon was the most successful person in the world. Ecclesiastes 2:4-9 (NIV) details the many accomplishments of King Solomon. He was a man of great wisdom. No one compared to him, but he did not become wise in an instant. He spent time studying and learning. He learned from God. The Bible says in (If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5 (NIV) that if a person does not have wisdom, that person should ask God, and He will give it to them. Pray that your husband will be sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and follow His lead. You can say this prayer:

Dear Lord God,

All good wisdom comes from you. You are all-knowing. Please bless my husband with the wisdom that he needs in his efforts to succeed. Make him wise in his dealings. These things I pray for, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

3. Pray for skills and ability

The story of how David defeated Goliath can be read in 1 Samuel 17. David was victorious in many ways, not just because he was knowledgeable but also because he was skilled and able. He learned to do things at a young age and pleased God by doing what needed to be done. In (I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 (NIV), Paul says that he is able to do all things through Jesus, who is his source of strength. Pray for your husband to be skilled, able, and equipped to do what God has called him to do. When he does, he will be successful, just like David and Paul. You may offer this prayer to God:

Dear God,

You have given us skills and talents. Please bestow the needed skills and abilities on my husband. Enable and equip him so that he can succeed in his career. Let him be competent and do things excellently. I pray for this, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

4. Ask God for peace

The story of Joseph, the son of Jacob, starts in Genesis 37 and continues through Genesis 50. When Joseph was treated badly by his brothers and imprisoned, nowhere in the Bible does it say how restless, troubled, fearful, or worrisome he was. Because of his attitude, he found favor in prison and even won the favor of the Pharaoh, so he was appointed governor of Egypt. We read in (Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 (NIV) that Jesus gives his peace to his disciples and will do the same to your husband. Ask God for your spouse to be peaceful, and to be a  positive thinker, overcoming fears, worries, and anxiety. You can say this to God in prayer:

Dear Father God,

Peace comes from you. Thank you for being the God of peace. Please shower your peace on my husband. Free his mind from negative thoughts. Let him have peaceful thoughts instead. Let him have your peace. This I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

5. Pray for faith

People can only be successful when they work in faith. In the book of  Genesis 6:1-22 (NIV), we read the first part of the story of Noah. He was a righteous man, so when God commanded him to build a large ark, he willingly obeyed. He had faith in God, even though it was a huge task. He believed that he could start and finish the ark, for God was with him. His faith led him to complete the ark because he trusted in God. You may pray like this:

Dear God,

You are the God of possibilities and reward those who have faith in you. Please increase my husband’s faith as he makes his way toward a successful life. Help him have a faith that moves mountains, as Jesus has instructed. This I pray, in the name of the Lord Jesus. Amen.

6. Pray for courage

Before Joshua and the Israelites defeated their enemies, he had to muster up his own courage for them to face their enemies. He had to lead the Israelites because Moses had passed on, and so in Joshua 1:7-9 (NIV), God told him to be brave and strong. He could not be courageous and strong on his own, so God told him to meditate on the word of God, which gives courage and strength, along with God’s presence. Pray for your husband to be brave, just like Joshua. You can say the powerful words of this prayer:

Dear God,

You know how fearful we can be at times. Please give courage to my husband as he fulfills his duties and accomplishes his many tasks. Let him be brave as he faces challenges and difficulties in pursuing good things. I pray for this in the name of Jesus. Amen. 

7. Ask for obedience

In Daniel 6:1-21, we read the story of Daniel, who continued to pray to God in a foreign country. Daniel was different. He was a noble man. He obeyed God rather than men, even the king of Babylon. He kept on worshiping God, even though it could cost him his life. His obedience moved the king to throw him into the lions’ den, but to everyone’s amazement, he remained unharmed by the lions. Daniel was blessed because of his obedience. (He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” Luke 11:28 (NIV) brings forth the very words of Jesus, who said that those who listen to the word of God will be blessed. Pray for your husband to obey God, even if sometimes it seems illogical to do so, as God will not ask him to obey if it is not good for his soul. God rewards obedience. You may use this prayer:

Dear God,

You are a righteous God. You want us to obey you because it will be good for us to do so. Please bless my husband with an obedient heart. Move him to always follow your path and follow you. This I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen
