Prayers for My Future Husband

When it comes to relationships and marriage, most women express excitement and hopefulness. It is indeed an amazing chapter, a dream come true, a serious matter, and not something she should enter quickly and undecidedly. That is why a woman needs to give herself to prayer because prayer plays a very important role in meeting her future husband. Let’s dive into Prayers for My Future Husband

You can pray for your future husband in this way:

“Father,  I come to You with hopeful expectations about my future husband. Thank You for Your wonderful plans for my life, and that includes who is best for me. I surrender and dedicate my life to You. And as I commit to You my future, I believe You will give me the man of Your choice—a godly, loving man who will love You first and foremost. May You make him the man You want him to be, may he walk in all Your ways, and may he fulfill Your purpose. I am willing to wait and allow Your grace to work in my life so I may become the woman he is praying for. Amen.”

Ways to pray for a future husband

Here are five ways to pray for your future husband:

1. Pray with faith.

When you pray for your future husband, you are enlivening faith in your heart, knowing that God has put this desire in you, and you are encouraged to start praying for him. Even though you do not see your future husband yet, you have eyes of faith that one day you will meet him and regard him as a treasure from above and a heaven-sent man.

When you pray, you should pray with faith, believing that you will receive it in God’s perfect time (Matt. 21:22). You should have an expectant heart to receive what you are praying for, that God will send you the right man to be your husband.

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Prayers for My Future Husband

Here is a sample prayer of faith:

Father, I believe that You will send me a man who will be my future husband. By faith, I will meet him at the time appointed. I trust You as I commit my life to You. Amen.

2. Pray according to God’s desire in a man.

As I read the Bible, I understand and realize God’s expectations and standards for a man. He wants a man who has leadership skills and is loving (Ephesians 5:25-29), nurturing, diligent, gentle and has all the wonderful qualities. As you pray for your future husband, it is good that you include what God desires in a man. Pray that he will be like David, who was a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22). Pray that he will be like Joshua, who was strong and courageous (Joshua 1:9). And pray that he will be like Jesus, Who is sacrificial (1 John 2:2) and loving (John 3:16).

But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.

Prayers for My Future Husband

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

Prayers for My Future Husband

You can pray according to God’s desire for your man like this:

Lord God, as I read the Scriptures, I get to understand what it means to be godly and loving. I pray that my future husband will be like David to become a man after Your own heart, like Joshua to be strong and courageous and like You to be sacrificial and loving. Amen.

3. Pray with patience.

When you pray for your future husband, you need to pray with patience. Patience is an important ingredient that God wants to develop in you. You ought not to hurry or force God. Keep in mind that God knows when it is the right time for Him to bring you the man you are praying for. Be careful not to give God deadlines but allow Him to work in you and form the godly characteristics He wants you to have as a future wife for your future husband.

Jacob patiently waited for Rachel (Genesis 29:18-30). He worked and waited for seven years to have Rachel, but he got Leah instead (Genesis 29:26). Laban, the father of Leah and Rachel, told Jacob that he still needed to work and wait for another seven years to finally have Rachel. Then, after fourteen years of waiting and serving, he got the woman he desired.

In the same way, you must not faint nor get weary when it feels like you are waiting for a long time. Pray with patience because God has His own timetable for when you will meet your husband. Furthermore, do not forget that love is patient (1 Corinthians 13:4). Praying for your future husband shows that you will love him devotedly and truly, and if you will love him, you will be willing to wait for him.

Sample prayer for patience:

Lord, help me to wait and be patient. Help me not to hurry and commit mistakes. As I patiently wait, develop godly qualities in me so my waiting will not be in vain. Amen.

4. Pray that he will love God first and foremost.

The greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind (Matthew 22:37). Be careful not to fall into thinking that your husband will love you first and put you first—leaving God behind. His first priority in the relationship should be God. I greatly believe that when he loves God first, God will teach him and fill his heart with so much love. Not only should you pray for Your husband, but you are to also guard your heart so that you will love God first and foremost. God should take first place in your heart.

The church in Ephesus was hard-working, patient, and not bearing with evil. However, God had something against them. They had forsaken their first love (Revelation 2:1-7). Through the Scriptures, we see that God is serious about who takes first place in our hearts. Let us be careful and always seek to love God first and foremost and pray for a man who will do the same.

An example of prayer about loving God first and foremost:

Lord, it is Your command for us to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. I pray that my future husband will love You first and foremost and that he will put You first and above anything. Let nothing and no one come before You. Amen.

5. Pray that he will be a godly husband and father.

It is also good to desire that your husband will be godly so he can help you in all godliness. How wonderful it is to be with someone who enforces and strengthens your faith—a man who will be your prayer partner, carry the burden with you, and become your companion in your spiritual journey.

Do not forget that in time he might also become a father! So, it is honorable to pray that he will become a good and godly father in the future and raise godly children with you. God longs for godly offspring! (Malachi 2:15)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

6. Pray that you will become a godly wife and mother

When you pray for your future husband, be also prepared to become the wife God wants you to be. As you believe in faith that God is forming him, you also need to put your life in the hands of God to form and mold for His purpose.

One day, as a wife you will serve, nurture your family, love, assist, and help your husband. So right now, actively involve yourself in every good work you can do to serve others, nurture, love God’s people, and assist whenever you can. In that way, you can start to build divine qualities in yourself and be ready to become a godly wife.

Prayer about being a godly wife and mother:

Lord, as I wait for my future husband, I pray that You will also prepare me to become the godly wife You want me to be. It is my heart’s desire and longing that both of us will be godly, good, and loving and that we’ll serve You together. Amen.

7. Pray now.

There is no more definite and perfect time to pray for your future husband than now. While you’re young and at an early age as possible, it is good to pray for your future husband because this teaches your heart to look forward to what God has prepared for you. Wait with expectation, knowing that he is in the hands of God, and he will be brought to you in God’s time. Also, it conditions your mind that God will give you the best, godliest man you have been praying for so long.

Prayer for today:

Lord, even though I have no clue yet and am still young, I am now praying for my future husband. Please prepare my heart for the appointed time I meet him. Amen.
